Freelance journalist Sobhapati Samom,have been writing for The Assam Tribune as a correspondent in Manipur since 1998. He has also been reporting for Hindustan Times,New Delhi based North East SUN ,Shillong based Eastern Panorama magazines and Imphal based Mongbahanba fortnightly etc besides local dailies. He had also assisted as production assistant in filming a documentary for University Grants Commission on ‘Theatre of Manipur’ and a research project on ‘Potential trade relations between north east India,Myanmar,Bhutan,China,Bangladesh and South East Asia’ by the Centre for North East Studies. Being the recipient of 7th Centre for Science and Environment media fellowship,he had done eight comprehensive stories featuring issues of pollution of Manipur’s most polluted river Nambul and the role of urbanisation under the media fellowship program. He is also the recipient of state journalist award on rural reporting in 2008.He had attended different seminars and workshops at state.regional,national and international levels on different issues particularly on environment and development.
