Gabriel Solomon leads the GSMA’s public policy agenda and thought leadership programme, ensuring that the GSMA plays an influential role in shaping the global regulatory agenda. He is also responsible for raising the GSMA’s profile internationally through effective communications and relationship development with a large number of key audiences.
Gabriel also develops strategic partnerships with multilateral institutions and industry stakeholders with the aim of identifying and promoting best practice policy and regulation, lobbying governments and regulators accordingly. Recently he has lead successful campaigns on environmental affairs and mobile specific taxation.
Previously, Gabriel specialised in strategy, mergers and acquisition, business development, new market entry and finance having worked with Oliver Wyman, Call Sciences (a Bell Labs spin off), ECI Telecom and the Rothschild Bank. Gabriel sits on the Boards of the UK Telecoms Academy, the ITU’s Connect the World programme and the Manobi Development Foundation.
He holds an MBA from INSEAD, having graduated from Tufts University in 1990 with an honours degree in liberal arts.
