I am Zabihullah Shakir Aziz from logar Province of Afghanistan. I have been a journalist for several years, first with BBC Radio and now I am working as Senior Producer with SAYARA MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION office in Afghanistan. I began experimenting with photography while I was with the BBC. I started to take photographs for my own interest in addition to photographs for my job. After I joined Ayena Photo Agency as a volunteer photographer beside of working with BBC. It is my 1st time to joining Exhibition in which I will be able to show my images. My images are Educational and mostly concern Agriculture, women and children in my country.
I use photography because I like to get actual images of people in the moment. I focus mostly on the women and children in my country because they best represent a hopeful future.
Although my country has been at war practically all of my life and there is so much despair, there is also so much beauty here. I want people all over the world to know that. And I want to remind my fellow Afghans of that, as well.
Ours is a profoundly beautiful country filled with remarkably beautiful and resilient people. With these photographs I hope to convey that message to all. From the depths of my heart and soul I say to my fellow citizens, "I love you all and may we find ourselves cradled in the arms of peace and harmony soon.
