I have been working for Practical Action for 9 years, initially on programmes for increasing food security among marginalised communities in Africa and south Asia; since 2004 I have been focusing on the impact of climate change on these communities, and how they can be helped to adapt. I work both on designing programmes of community based adaptation, and on the national and international policies needed to enable adaptation to take place. I have written a number of papers on these themes and co-authored a book: Understanding Adaptation to Climate Change - lessons from community based approaches, with jonathan Ensor, published in 2009
