Please summarise your areas of climate-change expertise (in terms of subjects and geographical areas)
Nepal being a mountainous country is under serious threat of climate change impacts.Melting of glacier and formation of glacial lakes and potential threats of glacial lake outbursts flood are the most talked about issues when the climate change and global warming is brought under discussion. Though we contribute negligible green house gases emissions in the atmosphere, we are among the most vulnerable communities to the threats of climate-induced disasters. Due to lack of technical capacity and financial resources to combat climate change related catastrophes, millions of poor communities are at risk. Likewise, we are also among those countries with high potential on renewable energies and community led forest management practices, both leading to mitigate the impacts of climate change, but, unfortunately we have not been able to harness the benefits so far. The dramatic impacts of climate change are visible on agriculture, biodiversity and livelihood among others, but due to lack of adequate scientific data and researches, advocating and raising the issue of climate change and global warming at both national and international arena is still a big challenge.
