Jørgen E. Olesen holds a research professorship in adaptation and mitigation to climate change in agriculture at Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Aarhus University. He was involved in initiating Danish research on agrometeorology. He has lead several interdisciplinary projects within development of sustainable agriculture and participated in multiple EU projects on climate change impacts, greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental effects of agriculture. He has participated in several international and national committees and commissions on the interaction between agriculture and the environment. He is member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, who received the Nobel Peace Price in 2007, member of the Danish Commission on Climate Change Policy, and chair of the food and agriculture group under the Danish green think tank, CONCITO.
