Avril David is an Energy and Environment Analyst for the AEA Group’s Project Performance Corporation, where she provides analytical and project management support for project work for the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

She holds an A.B. in Comparative Politics from Princeton University and a Master of Urban Planning from New York University where she focused on environmental policy and sustainable urban growth both domestically and internationally. Her coursework included sustainable transportation, energy and water management and the impact of climate change on human security.

Ms. David has worked as an Analyst for New Carbon Finance where she developed reports for corporate clients on North American cap and trade scenarios that incorporated the influences of the private sector, state and regional initiatives and the international community on both the timing and scope of a domestic program. Her analysis included covered sectors, allowance allocations, reporting requirements and potential competitiveness provisions under the WTO. She also worked as a climate policy researcher at the Council on Foreign Relations, focusing on the melting arctic and implications for shipping and trade as well as working as an Renewable Energy Analyst for Vencon Management Inc. where she evaluated renewable energy business plans on the basis of their technical viability and financial projections; the proposals she evaluated include Solar PV, wind and tide turbine, methane gas capture, carbon sequestration and various manufacturing proposals.

Ms. David has also worked for Ecosystem Marketplace as a Forest carbon policy researcher and article contributor. While working for Ecosystem Marketplace, Ms. David published articles on the use of term credits in cap and trade, biochar as a soil carbon offset methodology and an informational overview of the concept of additionality in carbon offsets. Her article on term credits was picked up by Reuters and she has also published an article on behavioral economics and sustainability leadership for Forbes.com
