I've been part of the International Secretariat of the World Rainforest Movement since it was established in Uruguay in 1996. I activily participated supporting communities and organizations struggling in the defense of their forests. I have visited communities affected by deforestation and monoculture tree plantations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland, Thailand and Venezuela and I have documented many experiences of opposition to monoculture tree plantations. I also participate in a local group -Grupo Guayubira- a Uruguayan group of people and organizations in defense of the forests and against plantations. I'm part of the core group of the Gender cc Network, and coordinate the Latin American Network against Monoculture Tree Plantations (RECOMA)
